Kaspersky Internet Security & Anti-Virus 2010 9.0.0.459 Final

What’s New in Kaspersky Internet Security 2010:
New in protection:
- Improved HIPS (Host-based Intrusion Prevention System) technology assigns a danger rating to unknown programs. The Application Control component uses HIPS to define rules for new and already known applications, which may restrict their access to the file and operating systems.
- Innovative Sandbox technology has been implemented, which uses virtualization to create a secure environment for program execution. New software can be tested in this environment, which isolates the host operating system from all changes. There is no limit to the number of Internet browsers and other applications which can run simultaneously in a sandbox.
- Increased use of Kaspersky Security Network considerably decreases the threat response time, due to information received from other users. The service aims to minimize the time necessary to detect and neutralize new types of threats. When a user starts a program, the service checks it against white lists and Urgent Detection System lists on Kaspersky Lab’s servers.
PREDATOR – Protects PC with USB flash drive
PREDATOR locks your PC when you are away, even if your Windows session is still opened. It uses a regular USB flash drive as an access control device, and works as follows:
- you insert the USB key
- you run PREDATOR (autostart with Windows is possible)
- you do your work…
- when you’re away from your PC, you simply remove the USB flash drive: once it is removed, the keyboard and mouse are disabled and the screen darkens
- when you return back to your PC, you put the USB flash drive in place: keyboard and mouse are immediately released, and the display is restored.
It’s easier and faster than closing your Windows session, since you do not have to retype your password when you return.
ESET Smart Security 4.0.417
ESET Smart Security is a tightly integrated solution designed to protect computers from a range of threats. Built on the award-winning ESET NOD32 Antivirus and its powerful ThreatSense engine, ESET Smart Security provides antispyware, antispam and customized firewall features. Utilizing ThreatSense — the industry’s most advanced heuristics — the window of vulnerability between virus outbreak and signature update is reduced.
The key advantage of this approach is that individual protection modules are able to communicate together seamlessly, to create unparalleled synergy to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of protection.
Norton UAC Tool 1.0.11 Beta
User Account Control (UAC) is a security infrastructure available in Microsoft Windows Vista that limits the users’ privileges on application software even for users who have administrator privileges assigned. Applications which have lower privileges need to get approved beforehand or get users’ authorization to higher privileges before it can install or run. This security feature can prevent malware from spreading or infecting the system.
UAC is an useful security feature to enhance the overall security system; however, it can be very disruptive. From time to time during the installation of an application, updating of a software or running of a program, this security will prompt you to assign rights or to approve some action. Besides, this feature may sometimes give a false sense of security.
