Mac OS X 10.5.8 released

Apple released their update for Leopard, bringing it up to version 10.5.7. This update brought many bug fixes and optimizations, with no new features as Snow Leopard is scheduled to release in September.

The 10.5.8 Update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Leopard and includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac, as well as specific fixes for:
compatibility and reliability issues when joining AirPort networks.  An issue that could cause some monitor resolutions to no longer appear in Displays System Preferences.
issues that may affect Bluetooth reliability.

Google announces Chrome-based Operating System

Google announced its plan to release a Chrome-based OS. Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Google plans to open-source its code later this year and offer Google powered netbooks in 2010. Google Chrome OS will run on both x86 as well as ARM chips. Google is currently working with multiple OEMs to bring a number of netbooks to market next year bundled with the new Chrome OS.

Google Chrome OS is a new project, separate from Android. Chrome OS is being created for people who spend most of their time on the web, according to Sundar Pichai, VP Product Management at Google.

Windows Mobile 6.5 Development Tool Kit

Microsoft officially unveiled its Windows Mobile 6.5 Developer Tool Kit for Windows Mobile developers. Windows mobile developers who are involved in developing applications for Windows Mobile 6.5 can download a copy from Microsoft download center. The released tool kit adds documentation, sample code, header and library files, emulator images and tools to Visual Studio.

The Windows Mobile 6.5 Developer Tool Kit comes with the following Emulator Images:

  • Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional Square Emulator
  • Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional QVGA Emulator
  • Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional WQVGA Emulator
